If you did not purchase your computer within the last 5 years I (most of the time, there are exceptions)don't recommend fixing because you can add what you would spend fixing to a new one. You can setup an external hard drive with a program like acronis true image for $50 or you can purchase the annual online (cloud) service from carbonite for the same price. Either way, make sure you have antivirus installed to minimize the chances of getting a virus and be sure you also have anti spyware in effect.
